Lee Paxton Steps Up as Transport Manager
After four years holding the Transport Manager role, Ian Muir is stepping into a well deserved full time retirement. On behalf of everyone at PPS Logistics, we want to thank Ian for his hard work and dedication. His efforts in getting the operation up and running were invaluable, and we genuinely couldn’t have done it without him. Wishing you all the best, Ian.
With that, we’re delighted to announce the appointment of Lee Paxton as our new Transport Manager and CPC Holder. We caught up with Lee to get his thoughts on the promotion and how PPS Logistics supported him through his Transport Manager Certificate of Professional Competence.
- What does taking on CPC Holder and Transport Manager actually mean to you, personally?
Personally, it means a lot because it’s a position of trust and responsibility. You’re not just managing vehicles, you’re responsible for compliance, safety, the drivers, and the reputation of the business. For me, it’s about stepping up and making sure things are done the right way. - Why did you want this role in the first place? What drew you to it?
I’ve always wanted to progress and challenge myself. I enjoy the operational side of the business, solving problems, and helping keep everything running smoothly. This role felt like the natural next step and an opportunity to make a bigger impact. - What was the toughest part of getting through the CPC?
Balancing the studying with day-to-day work was probably the hardest part. There’s a lot to take in, especially around legislation and compliance, but once you get your head into it and stay disciplined, it starts to click. - What would you say to anyone else here thinking about putting their hand up for a bigger role?
Go for it. You’ll probably doubt yourself at times, but you learn a lot by pushing yourself outside your comfort zone. If you’re willing to put the effort in and ask questions, the opportunities are there. - What are you most looking forward to now you’re in the chair?
I’m looking forward to building a strong, compliant operation and helping develop the team around me. I want to keep improving standards, support the drivers and staff properly, and make sure we keep moving the business forward.
A word from our Managing Director, Andrew Muir
“It’s great to progress and develop strong talent within the business and give people the opportunity to step up. Lee has shown real leadership and the attitude that embodies the PPS Standard. We work hard to identify good people and give them the chance to grow.
Moving the TM role on from a family member, my dad, should also make for friendlier Sunday dinners. I want to thank him for the time and effort he’s given to help us build the business. And I’m delighted to see Lee step into this role. He’s earned it, and I’m proud to work alongside him.”
